Office profile

Hascher Jehle Architecture is based in Berlin and was founded in 1992 by Rainer Hascher and Sebastian Jehle. Since then, together with their team consisting of 70 employees they have gained numerous successes ranging from competitions up to the building of their award-winning designs. Their comprehensive competence in planning can be seen in various projects like the Stuttgart Museum of Art, the dvg office building Hanover (now Finanz IT), the university clinic Halle-Kröllwitz, the shopping and business centre ‘Königsbau Passagen’ Stuttgart, or the terminal west Berlin-Schönefeld airport.
Philosophy
We thoroughly analyse the requirements of the site, the function of the building and the wishes of the client. With all this in mind we develop individual architectural solutions, always with the goal of creating high quality spaces at appropriate costs. The focus of our design concept is always the human being: Its defined needs for the use of single rooms, its practical requirements in terms of orientation and organisation of the building and its sensual perception of components such as lighting, ventilation, sound, odour and materials - this leads our design process which results in a detailed interpretation of the respective task.
Creation
In the creation of our designs we follow the principle of 'simple technology': as little technology as possible, as much as necessary. In this context the considerate treatment of the natural resources has a high priority, because we believe in a building’s sustainability as one of its important values. Our professors Rainer Hascher and Sebastian Jehle, teaching in Berlin and Stuttgart, add newest theoretical knowledge to the practical work. In addition to that we involve other specialists at a very early design stage to support us with the development of innovative solutions as part of a comprehensive planning approach.
Our work has been rewarded by the architecture & technology awards, also the German architecture prize, the German prize for building with steel, the German prize for building with concrete, the German prize for building with wood and the German prize for urban development.
