lra_01_100705 lra_02_100705 The new structure in horizontal strata accommodates the overall height and building lines of the environment. The original regularity of block construction is thus gently reconstructed through moderate building heights. Along the Oststrasse, a purposefully designed, higher vertex is generated which from afar acts as a highest point which helps give it its identity. The design concept is not defined by the idea of a high-rise building, but rather by the impact of a sign for a district office in a public space - the waist-like contraction at the intersection of the perimeter block development and the highest point supports these sign properties. Along the Lerchenstrasse, at the intersection of the old and new buildings, the enlarged district office is given an inviting presence in the public space by a new, easily visible entrance. lra_03_100705 lra_08_100705 lra_05_100705 The flexibility of the arrangement of the offices, including possible rearrangements later, is made possible by the frame construction. The partitions and elements of the façade (1.2/0.6 m) can be freely combined in the individual fire areas. The edge length of the 'high rise cube' (20.4 m) and of the four wings of the ground plan (14.40 m) permit all kinds of varieties of offices. On the ground floor in the corner of Oststrasse and Lerchenstrasse there is a seminar area which can be used separately and made independently accessible. Further offices are located under the entry level, facing the dining area. Both have excellent levels of daylight as well as sheltered access to the free area. There is a further conference room and the offices of the forestry office in the 10th and uppermost storey.
