The new building structure interlocks with the landscape and thus, equalizes towards the floodplain. In addition, the pavilions of the new building structure cluster around a spacious square and generate an entity of urban planning. A distinctive identity of the entire edifices has been accomplished by the square that furnishes the respective buildings with an address. All buildings of the health care center (administration, hotel, outpatient department) as well as the hospital with its partitions that require a separate opening (therapy and maternal and child welfare) have priority in regard to traffic and will be accessed from that point. Brief parts of the way support the economical and effective mode of operation for the hospital staff.
The physical separation of the different flow of traffic of visitors, outpatients, bedridden patients and staff has been hereby assigned for grade-separated traffic.The intensive care unit and the surgery are attached to each other at the shortest distance. The surgeries receive daylight and are able to be accessed by two interconnected and central zones for initiation of the patient as well as completion after the surgery. Even the inner surgery-areas gain daylight by the inner courtyards. There is a functional unit between in-patient and outpatient surgeries which contains of own infrastructure; furthermore both units are accessible separately.
